Counseling for Homeschooled children in TX & OK

You deserve support that fits your learning style & your life.

Based in Plano, Online across Texas & Oklahoma

Do you feel isolated or different from other kids your age?

Do you struggle with being homeschooled, even though there are things you like about it? Maybe you cringe when someone asks you where you go to school. Here it goes again, the raised eyebrows, the same old questions - do you get to hang out with friends? - how is it having your mom as your principal too? (like that one never gets old.) Sometimes you just wish you were in regular school, like everyone else, but you know you wouldn’t like that either.

Maybe learning at home has blurred the boundaries between school and rest, leading to stress, burnout, or anxiety. It’s like you never fully turn school off, or like your progress is always being notice and evaluated. You really want more independence, support navigating friendships, confidence, and identity but how are you supposed to do that when what’s been working before may not feel right anymore.

You deserve the tools to succeed in school, friendships, and everything in between.

How therapy for Homeschooled children works

Feel calmer, more confident, and more in control of your life.

Imagine school and life feeling less overwhelming. You’re no longer stuck in constant stress, self-doubt, or pressure to prove you’re doing “enough.” Instead, you feel more confident in yourself and how you learn. You’ve learned ways to manage your emotions, stay focused, and handle challenges without shutting down or burning out.

With these new tools, you’re better able to deal with school pressure, social worries, and the ups and downs of being a teenager. Instead of feeling stuck, unmotivated, or anxious, you know how to calm your mind, speak up for what you need, and build trust in yourself.

Even your mood, sleep, and energy start to improve. You feel more balanced and less overwhelmed by everything you’re carrying. Imagine moving forward feeling steadier, stronger, and more capable - where school doesn’t control your life and you feel more like yourself again.

Frequently asked questions about counseling for homeschooled children

FAQs

  • Sessions are online and typically meet once a week for 50 minutes. Many students begin with 8–10 sessions, and some choose to continue longer because growth happens at your child’s pace and the journey is theirs. I use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) techniques to help identify negative thinking patterns and shift them into healthier, more positive ones. This builds confidence, emotional regulation, and focus, which can improve both performance and productivity - while still leaving space for your child to be a kid.

  • Your child may benefit from counseling if you notice ongoing changes in mood, motivation, or behavior that are affecting daily life or learning. Common signs include increased anxiety, frequent frustration or emotional outbursts, withdrawal from activities they once enjoyed, difficulty focusing or staying motivated, sleep changes, or struggles with confidence or social situations.

Counseling can also be helpful if your child is feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, transitions, or expectations—even if there isn’t a single “big” problem. Early support can help your child build coping skills, emotional awareness, and confidence before challenges grow larger.

  • Counseling is an investment in your child and their long-term development. The skills they build in therapy - confidence, emotional regulation, decision-making, and self-awareness - support success not only in school, but also in college acceptance, college life, and the workforce. Just as importantly, counseling helps children and teens better understand who they are and what they stand for, which lays the foundation for healthy relationships and life choices.

Sessions are online & are $125 per 50-minute session. I do not accept insurance at this time, which allows therapy to remain focused on your child’s needs rather than diagnosis or insurance requirements. Many families choose this option for greater privacy, flexibility, and individualized care.

  • Getting started begins with a free 15-minute phone consultation. This gives us a chance to talk about your child’s needs, answer your questions, and see if counseling is the right fit.
